Retribution Playstyle & Guidelines

Please start with the about page and read below when you’re ready to sign up for an event! Below you’ll find details on how we run events and retribution sorties.

RULES

We do not have an extensive rule list like other servers. If you’ve read it on another server, it probably applies here. When in doubt, ask us. Anyone who purposely disrupts the discord, server, or event will be banned without warning or explanation. The latest event document will have all pertinent information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

DCS is a simulator and requires knowledge of flight simulation. You are expected to know how to startup, taxi, takeoff, fly, and land without issue. Basic navigation skills and weapon deployment skills are also expected. You do not have to know everything about your aircraft but you’re expected to not cause an issue for other players. Making a crater in a runway or crashing into another pilot is not ideal. We highly recommend that you have some flight gear. If you’re flying with a gamepad of sorts we expect the same level of basic flying skills from you.

COMMS

We have implemented Simple Radio Standalone (SRS Discord). It is a light third party program that allows you to use cockpit radios for communication. All support for SRS should come from the SRS Discord. They have seen it all and can assist rapidly.

DCS BUILD

We run the latest DCS Open beta as do all the major online servers.

MISSION TIMELINE & RTB

We run missions based on one hour in game time. If the mission starts at 14:00 in game time, we'll RTB by 15:00. This gives you approximately 1 hour to conduct your mission and land. We ask that if you want a realistic landing pattern, carrier ops, that you make time for that before the Return to Base (RTB) callout. The in game time is always on the F10 map in the top right corner. All pilots should be on the ground by the end of the hour. A courtesy RTB callout may be sent via chat, discord, and/or SRS. Once the hour is complete, we'll shut down the server and prep for the next sortie.

If you are in the air when the server disconnects you do not get counted as a loss. You are counted as surviving by retribution. All steps for the RTB callout is to allow as many sorties as possible to be flown in the night. It is a courtesy measure for all pilots involved.

RE-ARM

If you complete your initial mission you may RTB and Rearm once per life. This is to make sure no one is spamming ordinance. Just be mindful of the time remaining in mission. Be courteous to others on the server. Do not go back out and strike other pilot’s targets. Do not wipe the frontline when CAS pilots are still working it. Coordinate your efforts on SRS comms.

RESPAWN / RE-SLOT

We usually allow 1 respawn during a mission. You are expected to complete your objective first, prior to doing any side objectives. The respawn allows you that opportunity. If you disconnect from the server due to technical issues, you can re-slot. This does not count as a death. This does not apply if you disconnect during combat. We consider that you are killed. This is to prevent people from disconnecting or re-slot to avoid a death. Exceptions can be approved by the event host. Please respect your aircraft at all times.

SUPERCARRIER

All of our operations use the supercarrier when available. All carrier capable aircraft are available on land as well.
